     VERTICAL VINYL SIDING INSTALLATION

When installing vertical vinyl siding, use the same basic techniques and procedures as for horizontal siding.

    Snap Chalk Line

Start at the lowest corner of siding or sheathing on the house. Drive a nail partway into the sheathing at a point 1" higher than the lowest corner. Stretch a chalk like form this nail to a similar nail at the next corner of the house, being careful to make sure that the line is level. Continue this process around the entire house, always making sure that the chalk line is level.

    Installing 'J' Channel

The 'J' Channel will give you a strong, crisp edge from which to work. Position the 'J' Channel with the top edge on the level chalk line, and positioned to fit inside the slot of the corner post. Nail the 'J' Channel to the wall, being sure to follow the nailing tips. Use shims to fill any hollows which may occur int eh wall surface so that the finished siding job will not appear wavy. It is important that the 'J' Channel be installed straight and level. And remember, don't nail too tightly.

As you add sections of 'J' Channel, always leave 1/4" space between sections to allow for expansion and contraction.

Installing Inside and Outside Corner Posts

Follow the same procedures outlined on horizontal1.shtml and horizontal2.shtml, aligning bottom edge of corner posts with the bottom of the 'J' Channel.

    Installing Trim around Windows,
    Doors, and Eaves

Install 'J' Channel on tops and sides of all windows and doors, on bottoms of all windows and along eaves. Use the same procedure outline on horizontal3.shtml.
