     DRYER VENT INSTALLATION

    Installing Dryer Vents BEFORE Siding

If you are installing a dryer vent prior to the installation of siding, cut a 4" diameter hole completely through the wall to the interior of the building at the desired location. Attach the backplate to the wall with nails or screws using either set of mounting slots, making sure to place the patented rain drain at the bottom. Cut a rectangular opening in the siding panel to allow a 6-3/4" x 5-1/2" opening for the backplate. Slip the siding panel over the top and side flanges of the backplate and under the rain drain. Be sure the exhaust tube is locked in place on back of cover plate. Align the tube to slide into 4" hole in the wall. Make sure also that the cover plate door opens at the bottom. Install cover plate by inserting attachment studs into attachment holes on backplate. Push cover plate inward to adjust and straighten.

    Installing Dryer Vents AFTER Siding

If you are installing a dryer vent after the siding has been installed, cut a 6-3/4" x 5-1/2" rectangular hole in the siding where dryer vent is to be located. Cut a 4" diameter hole completely through the wall to the interior of the building. Be sure to center the 4" hole on the 6-3/4" x 5-1/2" opening; center the 4" hole on the 6-3/4" x 5-1/2" opening; this will accommodate the dryer vent tube. Cut a 1/2" long horizontal slit in the siding at each of the bottom corners of the siding opening. Insert the top of the backplate into the 1/2" slits and slide the backplate up so that the siding extends over the top and side flanges of the backplate but fits under the rain drain on the bottom of the backplate. Attach the backplate to the wall with nails or screws using the mounting slots.
